Okay so let’s talk about a dirty word; shipping. I can admit it, I freaking hate to pay shipping fees and I am betting you do too. You may even decide to stop reading now, and that’s okay, but we want to be transparent in our pricing so you understand the rationale behind our price structure.Since starting our coffee business in April 2017 we have undergone numerous changes in the way we charge shipping. We’ve done full shipping cost to the customer, we've done free shipping by including possible shipping costs in the product prices. Now we have landed on a happy medium, which means that everyone pays $5 flat rate shipping regardless of order size. It never covers the full amount of shipping, but it does at least help offset the cost. We are also planning on implementing free shipping on orders of more than $50 to reward those who purchase more. Most every other online roast-to-order sells their coffee in 12oz bags, which I didn’t understand until I got into this business. Those bags run out too quickly, but the HUGE upside is that they weigh under 13oz and that allows them to be shipped cheaply (although much slower) via First Class Mail. Our bags are one pound so they cannot be shipped First Class, and as a result, the shipping rates are higher. We’ve decided that is okay though because we use USPS Priority for our shipments and they typically reach our customers within 2-3 days. Pretty awesome right?! That’s important as you may have read in our blog post “What’s The Big Deal With Our Coffee?”, coffee is at peak flavor 2 to 14 days after roasting so getting to you quickly is key. If you order more than you can drink in that time period that’s okay, just keep your unopened coffee is a dark, cool, moisture-free spot and it will be good to go. We do still use First Class in the rare case when someone orders one 8oz bag of coffee from us...it happens rarely, but it still happens. We always get a kick out of customers emailing to say that they were amazed at how quickly they received their order. We love that!Hopefully, we didn’t put you to sleep by talking about our shipping policy, but again, we want to make sure our Seaside Coffee family understands what they are paying for. You work hard for your money and you should understand what you are spending it on. With us, you are paying a lower per-ounce price for coffee and cheaper shipping than most online roast-to-order companies. Compare for yourself!NOTE: The $5 flat rate shipping really pays off when you order more than one bag so take a look at our combo packs. With those, we have discounted the price of the coffee and you still only pay $5 shipping.
